Portrait of Mr. Krigar (study) [Menzel's brother-in-law, music director Krigar in horizontal position]
The pencil drawing shows the sleeping Herrmann Krigar (1819-1880), husband of Menzel's sister Emilie Krigar (1823-1907). The sitter is wearing glasses and a cap, his head resting on his right hand. In the lower right corner of the sheet Menzel repeated Krigar's face slightly enlarged. The titles of the works are "Portrait of Mr Krigar (sleeping)", "Menzel's brother-in-law, music director Krigar in a reclining position" and "Sleeping man with glasses (repeated)".
The work is signed and dated "A. M. 72".
