Description
Portfolio with 17 lithographs, all numbered and inscribed, printed by Hermann Birkholz on behalf of the Free Secession Berlin. On the inside of the back of the portfolio label "H. Trittler. Kunsthandlung. Frankfurt a/M. Goetheplatz 6-8".
Provenance
sold between 1921 and 1928 by the art dealer Heinrich Trittler, Frankfurt am Main; in September 1943 transferred by the OFP Hessen in Darmstadt to the Painting Gallery and the Museum of Antiquities of the City of Mainz, tax office identification number: M. St. 88/851. Probably confiscated by the Mainz tax office in September 1942 after the deportation of the owners The identity of the owner (presumably a Mainz collector specializing in prints of the Berlin Secession and the 1920s) has not yet been clarified.
