Menzel's visit to the Puhlmann family in Potsdam
The pencil drawing shows Adolph von Menzel with top hat during his visit to the Puhlmann family in Potsdam. The scene takes place in an interior room. Menzel is standing in the doorway with a staircase. To his left are three, to his right four other people. Dr. Friedrich Wilhelm Puhlmann (1797-1882) was a German military doctor and close confidant of Menzel.
The work is neither signed nor dated. It is assumed that it was created around 1850.
