Description
Black three-cornered hat. The wide brim is opened on three sides and attached to the flat cylindrical middle part by a clasp. The agraffe bears three small and two larger steel rosettes, the latter of which is attached to the lion's heads at the ends of the ribbon-shaped agraffe. The black linen lining is decorated several times. The hat has damaged areas. One corner piece is missing. The agraffe has a tin soldered break.
Provenance
Gift of Peter the Great to August the Strong; sent from Poland to Dresden to the armoury by royal order on March, 221699. Inventory 132, Chur-Cammer 1784, pages 140 to 141, number 95.
