Description

A SMALL TONDINQ, by Fra. Xanto Avelli, with a full-length figure of an angel leading a child by the hand, between two pointed rocks with trees, a lagoon, city and mountains in the distance, the back inscribed "lobia ", circa 1536

Provenance

Munich, loss 1938;

The collection (approx. 440 works) was confiscated by the SS in Munich in 1938 on the occasion of the ‘Reichskristallnacht’ and auctioned at Sotheby's in London in 1939 (7/8 June and 19/20 July).
