Description
Counterparts [Cf. no. 546; Polish woman]. The Pole stands with his legs apart, the right hand on his hip, the left hand on the golden handle of the long scimitar. Bareheaded, with black hair plaited into tiny knots and a black moustache. The undergarment is white with blue cuffs. The arms are inserted through the side slits of the coat sleeves. The coat purple-pink with ivory yellow lining. The belt is white with purple and golden horizontal stripes. The boots crimson. Round white base with gold rocaille border and applied polychrome flowers. [...] Both figures without mark. Models probably made by Kändler and Reinicke 1759. Mold numbers 2668 (Pole) and 2667 (Polish woman).
