Description
In the plate designated "Thiel 19" at lower right; with pencil designated "Probedruck III" at lower left, "J. Tiel" at lower right. At the lower left margin of the front page pencil note "op. 116 Partie an der Dreisam". Under passepartout typewritten with the work title on the left and the artist's name on the right.
Provenance
In 1922 listed as for sale under the serial number 655 in the IIIrd stock catalogue of the art dealer Heinrich Trittler, Frankfurt am Main. Transferred in September 1943 by the OFP Hessen in Darmstadt to the Painting Gallery and the Museum of Antiquities of the City of Mainz, tax office identification number: M. St. 88/851. Probably confiscated by the Mainz tax office in September 1942 after the deportation of the owners. The identity of the owner (presumably a Mainz collector specializing in prints of the Berlin Secession and the 1920s) has not yet been clarified. However, he probably bought several of the prints from Heinrich Trittler.
