Recto: top centre in stone "für den deutschen Wald", below right in stone "Slevogt", below left in pencil signature "IST[handwritten signature of Max Slevogt]", below left in pencil Inv.nr. "VI b/52/387", “47/1959”; verso: below left in pencil “3V803/ba”.
Provenance
20.10.1951: acquired from the art antiquarian Reinhold Puppel, Quedlinburg (formerly Hollstein & Puppel, Berlin). It is not known when and from whom Reinhold Puppel acquired the print. It cannot be ruled out that the print belonged to the old stock of the aryanised art shop Hollstein & Puppel. Reinhold Puppel deliberately traded in cultural property that had been confiscated as a result of Nazi persecution.
