Portrait of a 35-year old gentleman
Man with beard, hat and coat with dark brown fur trim. The sitter is grasping his fur with his left hand. Between the hat and the end of the shoulder a sky in an intense colourfulness of yellow, red and green-earthy swathes is visible. The architecture of a castle can be seen in the distance. A tree is cut into the left side of the picture. A plaque with the inscription "1528 / 35" is attached to it. The latter number gives information about the age of the sitter.
Muhr considers a connection between the portrait and the Wittelsbach dukes, who were Huber's patrons and clients, to be probable. Vlachos suspects that it could be the Passau humanist Philipp Gundel or Gundelius (1493-1567).
The painting is not signed, but dated 1528.
