Recto: lower left in pencil signature "Slevogt", lower left embossed stamp "Fritz Gurlitt Verlag", lower right in pencil inv. no. "VI b/52/370", lower right in pencil "47/1972"; verso lower left in pencil "51157".
Provenance
20.10.1951: acquired from the art antiquarian Reinhold Puppel, Quedlinburg (formerly Hollstein & Puppel, Berlin). It is not known when and from whom Reinhold Puppel acquired the print. It cannot be ruled out that the print belonged to the old stock of the aryanised art shop Hollstein & Puppel. Reinhold Puppel deliberately traded in cultural property that had been confiscated as a result of Nazi persecution.
