Description
Harbour scene, 5 men depicted, on the left a gentleman with knee breeches, light short jacket and small hat, sitting on a parcel, on the middle square is written in mirror writing "CARO DE ORO", diagonally right above crossed keys, the man is looking at a group of 3 men who seem to be talking about something, a man with long clothes, coat, one-piece robe, turban on his head, moustache, appears to be a merchant, in the background a half-naked man, only a scarf around his hips, dragging a sack on his shoulder, comes from the ships that can be seen through their masts in the background, takes place in a harbour in the Mediterranean, with columns, bushes

Waldeck collection; auction at Amsler & Ruthard on 14 February 1887 and the following days, sale to "Harrwitz"; auction at Rudolph Lepke's auction house, Berlin, on 14 March 1905, sale to "Greve"; probably during the war, at the latest since 9 July 1945 until today Lippische Landesbibliothek Detmold, initially handed over in trust by the British Military Government Detmold, since 20 July 1945 officially handed over for safekeeping.
