Description
Two andirons with a floral pattern that were used as decorative elements. The accompanying fire grates have been removed.
Provenance
The andirons were probably placed permanently in front of the fireplace when the Small Ballroom was furnished in 1868; as part of the settlement agreement between the Free State of Saxony and the former royal house in 1924, the fireplace screen with the two putti figures became part of the inventory of the Free State of Saxony; the andirons were removed during the war. The exact location of the relocation site is unknown. Possible locations include Rammenau Castle, Schönfeld Castle, Zottewitz Castle, Rothschönberg Castle and Schleinitz Castle; the further whereabouts of the andirons are unknown; it is assumed that they were lost in connection with the events of the Second World War.
