Description
Base for a writing cabinet with double-door top, mirror panels, lacquered red-brown, Chinese painting
Provenance
Two writing cabinets with an attachment are listed in the inventory under “Chinesisches Zimmer” in Dresden Castle (eest wing 2nd floor). During the of the anniversary exhibition in 1933, the two cabinets, which were made as a pair, were displayed in the bedroom of Augustus the Strong (west wing, 2nd floor, room no. 25). The inventory list of art objects mentions 2 red lacquer cabinets in the China room. In August 1943, they were transported to a relocation site (presumably Rammenau or Schieritz). It is assumed that they were lost in connection with the events of the Second World War.
