Description
A LARGE DERUTA GOLD LUSTRE DISH, decorated in the sunk centre in blue and gold with a standing figure of Fortuna on a dolphin, holding a scarf as a sail, trees in the background, a narrow gold well border and an outer wide border a quartieri with formal leafage in gold lustre and blue wash, the underside with a grey-green glaze, circa 1530
Provenance
Munich, loss 1938;
The collection (approx. 440 works) was confiscated by the SS in Munich in 1938 on the occasion of the ‘Reichskristallnacht’ and auctioned at Sotheby's in London in 1939 (7/8 June and 19/20 July).
