Description
Baroque cartouche on three chains: Ensemble of tools and products used by locksmiths, crowned by a palm wreath. Caption below: Als Ober Elster der Huff und Wapffen Schmide, wie auch der Schlösser und Büchssen Macher schencket dieses Schildt den Gewerck zum Andencken Anno 1737“. Donor's name on both sides of the crown: ‘Joh. Gabriel Kunstschlosser’. Later added at the bottom: ‘Erneuert zum Jubelfeste den 4. Februar 1837’.
Provenance
Formerly the Guben City Museum. Parts of the collection were apparently evacuated to Kossar (today: Kosierz) in 1942/43. The part of the collection that remained in Guben is said to have been looted between 1945 and 1948 and has been considered lost ever since.
