Description
The lady in Spanish costume, with feathered hat, mantilla and skirt of bent flounces, sits in a slanting posture and plays the lute lying on her lap. Her head and upper body are turned towards her partner, who is sitting to her left, holding a sheet of music in his raised left hand and singing while beating the beat with his raised right hand. His feet are crossed, his upper body turned to the right, his head turned forward with a grinning expression. Under him rests a brown spotted sheep. The lady's little hat purple-pink with yellow rosette and white feather trim. The mantilla white with red bow. The lute on pink ribbon wrapped around the coat. The skirt made of four rows of curved, golden edged flounces in white, purple-pink, straw-yellow and white; on this last one a colorful floral border. The shoes straw yellow with golden border along the instep and red heels. Scaramouche in black cloth cap, black coat, white jacket with red underarm bands, gold buttons and trim, black bloomers with yellow rosettes, white stockings and black buckled shoes. White oval base with applied polychrome flowers and green leaves. [...] Swords mark. Model by Kändler, completed in February 1744 [...]. Mold number 520.
