Description
On the left the farmhouse with a thatched roof and wooden gable. At the front of the house an open door, the woman with white head scarf and a white collar. In front of the gable end of the house a gate. In addition, the farmer talking to the rider pair.
Provenance
1875 creation of the painting by the artist. 1939 acquisition of the painting by the Chancellery. 1945 acquisition of the painting from the former hiding place Altaussee in the CCP Munich, Registry under number. Mu. 10793. 1965 handover of the painting in the departmental assets of the Foreign Office. 2010 use of the painting for the equipment of the German Embassy in Beirut. The provenance research is completed. There is no evidence that a NS - suggest persecution-related assets loss. Because of gaps in the provenance history is such, however, not be completely excluded.
