Description

Oval tea tray or tea table plate with curved edge. It shows nine people in “chinoiserie” style as well as fine ribbon and foliage decoration. According to Arp-Aubert (1936), the plate is painted red and gold.

Whether it is a mere tea tray or a tea table is not clearly documented. In inventory no. 1 of 31.01.1920 (“Schloß und Palais am Taschenberg zu Dresden sowie Palais Parkstraße 7”), as part of the 1924 settlement agreement between the Free State of Saxony and the former royal family, "1 Chines. Table with curved legs and connecting bar". Rudolf von Arps-Aubert, Sächsische Lackmöbel des 18. Jahrhunderts (1936), on the other hand, speaks of a tea tray.

Provenance
In the inventory list as part of the settlement agreement, the table fell to the Free State of Saxony. On the salvage list of art objects of special value dated May 6, 1942, 2 tables are mentioned. An exact date of removal is not on record; the measures were completed in the summer of 1944. The castles of Rammenau, Schönfeld, Zottewitz and Rothschönberg could have been used as relocation sites. Schönfeld is the most likely location. According to the files, lost at the relocation site.
